Tailgating and Grill Design
The task of this project was to create a design for a realistic grill product which implements three factors that satisfies average users with the ultimate tailgating experience.
Compacting ability
Creating a product that gives the user the ability to easily store and configure the grill is essential for any true tailgater. In the design phase, utilizing all available space for a compact grill is one key to providing the Grill Lifter with the selling edge over potential competitors.
Function
Simple and low maintenance setup always sets the mood for a great day of tailgating. This grill has built in features to ensure the user is easily able to manipulate the height and positioning of the grill to allow for a swift experience.
Attention to Detail
The ability of the Grill Lifter is not limited at simply holding food and cold drinks for the average tailgater. The unique built-in beer tap, CO2 tank storage, coolers, and easy lift system offer aesthetic attraction for a curious consumer to inquire about the product.
FEA Analysis
The elements chosen to utilize the FEA:
-Bracket (LG-005) to support
-Burner-Pan Mate Assembly (BRN-010)
-Grill Grate Assembly(GG-101)
The mass of (BRN-010) is 25.95 lbs and the mass of the (GG-101) is 11.35 lbs. Taking these two masses and adding extra weight for cooking on the grill and/or ice in the coolers, Burner-Pan Assembly and Grill Grate Assembly total mass estimation (with rounding) to approximately 50 lbs. However, there are two brackets supporting this estimated weight. Therefore, the
FEA uses a force of 25 lbs, or 2.1 psi, acting on a single Bracket (LG-005). The image to the right is the results of the FEA.
The FEA report shows a large range of displacement ranging from (3.937e-032) to (9.937e-005). The maximum displacement shows that the lift mechanism is well engineered to handle the given stresses on the grill.
